Call for Papers on Spatial Risk Analysis

Risk and decision analysts, as well as policy makers, are often faced with problems having spatial characteristics. Spatial variability is increasingly recognized as a key component in health, safety, and environmental exposure and risk assessment (e.g. Keller et al. 2014, Zagmutt et al., 2015, Zhou et al., 2014). In addition, there is a broad literature on spatial decision support in the environmental domain. A subset of this growing research field deals with risk (Malczewski, 2006), but, arguably, without a proper risk -analytic framework.

Call for papers - Risk Analysis IUFRO Conference

This conference of the IUFRO Unit 4.04.07 (Risk Analysis) will bring together leading experts from the international scientific community to discuss the risks posed to the forest resource by our changing climate, how these risks are perceived and predicted in the forest science and management community, and how risk and uncertainty can be incorporated in the decision-making process to increase the likelihood that the future realized ecosystem services match our stated goals.

Risks, Information and Short-Run Timber Supply

Efforts to increase wood mobilization have highlighted the need to appraise drivers of short-run timber supply. The current study aims to shed further light on harvesting decisions of private forest owners, by investigating optimal harvesting under uncertainty, when timber revenues are invested on financial markets and uncertainty is mitigated by news releases.
