Call for abstracts SSAFR2026

We are pleased to announce the next SSAFR2026 (symposium on System Analysis in forest Resources) conference that will be held in San Sebastián / Donostia in Spain. Arrival and wellcome cocktail on the 17th, sessions will be held from Monday 18th May to Thursday 21st May 2026. You can check the information and register in the conference webpage: https://decisiones.ctfc.cat/SSAFR2026/registration/

This conference is co-organized by the coordinators of the IUFRO Working Party 4.04.04 Landscape management planning for multiple ecosystem services.

Since 1975, SSAFR has been the premier international forum for forest systems analysis, operations research (OR) and decision science. (see previous-editions/).

The SSAFR community has been the primary contributor to almost all key forest management and planning research during the past century, e.g., harvest scheduling, supply chain, forest health, spatial optimization, wildland fire risk management, simulation, stochastic process, and forest and fire economics. The SSAFR community also embraces the opportunities of emerging new data science technologies and the challenges from the global climate changes.

SSAFR is an inclusive and diverse international community that welcomes collaborators and speakers from different countries and backgrounds. SSAFR is also committed to providing a supportive environment for new forest students and researchers. This year the symposium will be organized together with the final conference of the DecisionES project and co-sponsored by IUFRO.

This 21st  symposium will accept abstracts related with the following subjects:

  1. Application of Remote Sensing In Forestry
  2. Forest Modeling
  3. Forest Management and Planning
  4. Forest Transportation and Supply Chain Optimization
  5. Wildfire Risk Simulation, Management, and Decision Support
  6. Forest Health, Invasive Species, and Wildlife Habitat Management
  7. Spatial Optimization
  8. Stochastic Process Simulation and Optimization
  9. Quantitative Forest and Fire Economics
  10. Forest and Watershed Management
  11. Data Science and Machine Learning
  12. Forest Systems Analysis under Climate Change
  13. Ecosystem Restoration Planning
