Senior Researcher in Forest Planning

The Department of Forest Resource Management is looking for a senior researcher in forest planning. The Department conducts research and teaching within the areas of Forest Planning, Forest Remote Sensing, Forest Inventory and Sampling, Mathematical Statistics Applied to Forest Sciences and Landscape Studies. The Department is responsible for several environmental monitoring and assessment programs including the Swedish National Forest Inventory, National Inventory of Landscapes in Sweden, Terrestrial Habitat Monitoring and the Butterfly and Bumblebee Inventory. Research at the Department is focused on multilateral cooperation combining expertise from our many research groups. This gives unique possibilities for creating holistic solutions for the sustainable use of natural resources. Duties

We are looking for a senior researcher with special interest in forest planning. Forest planning as a scientific subject area is concerned with integrating different types of information as well as with the development of suitable methods supporting the objectives of e.g. the forest owners, companies, stakeholders and society. It includes economic, ecological as well as social values. Our research is of relevance for companies, organisations, authorities and the society. Together with the other members in the research group, you will therefore develop knowledge and methods to handle research questions of immediate interest for the forestry sector as well as questions that are considered important for the future. As part of your duties you will be involved in the forest science education program, write research applications and lead projects.

Qualifications

You have a PhD in forest management with a focus on forest planning and you are able to work with optimization methods, scenario analysis, multi criteria decision analysis as well as decision support systems. Experience to work with the Heureka system is a merit. Of great importance are your analytical and problem solving capabilities, your ability to work independent and your personal characteristics. You should have good skills in writing and expressing yourself in English.
