Phd Position in Group Decision Support Systems (GDSS)

In the context of the ANR French project "VGI users & data centered methods for the analysis of farmland biodiversity indicators: A participative SOLAP approach for opportunistic data" (IRIT), and Irstea of Clermont-Ferrand propose a Phd thesis in computer science with an application in the field of agro-ecology is vaccant

Context

With the explosion of VGI (Volunteer Geographic Information) technologies [3] more and more data are produced by voluntary users. This geospatial data is exploited by GeoBusiness Intelligence (GeoBI) systems to help decision makers make decisions. Among the GeoBI systems, Spatial OLAP (SOLAP) tools allow spatio-multidimensional analysis of large volumes of data via graphical and cartographic displays.

Objectives

The design of SOLAP systems is conventionally done using hybrid methodologies, which take into account source data and user requirements. While these methodologies have been used in several application domains, they appear to be ineffective in the context of VGI because of the large number of producers and users of the data. Indeed, the existing SOLAP design methodologies are based on a very limited number of users and therefore analysis needs.

The main objective of this thesis work is to design a SOLAP design methodology that takes into account a large number of users.

To do this, this work will be based on the principles of Group Decision Support Systems (GDSS). The GDSS via collaborative decision tools make it possible to find the best solution, seen as a consensus among different decision-makers.

The contributions of this thesis work will be validated with the data of biodiversity and the volunteers provided by the League of Protection of the Birds.
