Call for Papers for Special Session - KOI 2022

Participate in the 19th international Conference on Operations research in Croatia:

In the domain of forestry and forest industries, there are number of real-world Operations Research (OR) applications, in areas such as risk management, conservation, logistics, supply-chain and value-creation network, etc. In the last decades, many OR models and solution techniques have been developed for practical use in both the private and public forestry sectors. Decisions associated with where, when, and how activities happen are optimally sustained by scientifically OR-based methods and algorithms for practical application in real-life problems. OR techniques and methods are constantly evolving to deal with the ever-increasing number of complex problems facing decision makers in business, natural resources, administration, and politics. The most widely used mathematical models in natural resources include, but are not limited to, linear programming, integer programming, goal programming, dynamic programming, computer simulation, decision theory, AI-expert systems, and other network methods. The demand for improved efficiency, combined with multiple-use requirements, and the availability of computers, will result in a continuing increase in the use of OR techniques contributing to natural resource managerial decision-making.
The session is taking submissions within the following areas:
• Forest logistics and transportation
• Forest harvesting and long-range spatial planning,
• Biomass utilization, renewable energy and bioenergy
• Natural forest disturbances (invasive species and wildfire),
• Forest decision support systems
• Risk management and stochastic models,
• Data management
