Call for papers - Decision Support to Address Multiple Ecosystem Services in Forest Management

The provision of multiple functions of forests is becoming an increasingly important part of forest management. Traditional forest management is mostly timber-oriented. Forests, however, provide a broad range of ecosystem services that are critically important for society. Therefore, sustainable forest management is expected to reflect public demands with often contradictory interests which put a pressure on forests. Modern sustainable forest management has to consider more than one management objective and includes many stakeholders. Forest owners/managers who apply the process of decision support and participatory planning can potentially change management practices toward an improved provision of forest ecosystem services required by society or stakeholders.

The aim of this Special Issue is to bring a better insight into methodological approaches, scientific-based case studies focused on decision support systems facilitating various ecosystem service implementation, trade-offs among them, and their combination within forest management planning applying different silvicultural systems with a special attention to close to nature forestry in the context of sustainable forest management.
